RallyX On Ice is set for a flying start to the 2016 campaign with a full line-up competing in the premiere in Piteå the 31th of January. Reinis Nitiss, Patrik Sandell, Kevin Eriksson, Thomas Bryntesson, Niclas Grönholm and Oliver Eriksson is just a few of the drivers set to take part in the first event with the Supercar Lites on ice.

RallyX On Ice was a huge success in the first year with a big eco around the globe when the rallycross-stars came together competing on snow and ice in two events in Höljes and Karlstad.

– The interest for the series were strong last year and is even bigger still for 2016, we have fifteen places for the first race and already there is a line-up of drivers waiting to have a go in the queue for the coming events, says the CEO of RallyX On Ice Jonas Lundin.

The first event of RallyX On Ice 2016 is in Piteå the 31th of january together with the popular SM-veckan in Piteå, the event is broadcasted by SVT and the drivers are battling for a Swedish Championship medal in Winter-sprints. The event is similar to the 2015 event in Höljes with the drivers set to do three qualifying heats and then going on to the semi-finals and finals. In the line-up with the fifteen cars there is a lot of highly competive drivers set to be apart of the series. GRC-Supercar star Patrik Sandell is one of them, Sandell is set to drive a car for the Olsbergs MSE team helping Patrik with his first go in a RallyX On Ice race. Also racing for Olsbergs MSE the fast brothers Kevin and Oliver Eriksson will battle head to head, Kevin who was the Swedish RallyX-supercar champion in 2015 will have a tough battle with Oliver who was the GRC-lites champion in 2015.

In a fourth OMSE-prepared car there is an interesting newcomer in the seventeen year old Kenyan driver Tejas Hirani, Hirani made his Supercar Lites dayview in the RXLites Cup and now makes his first contact with driving on ice. The RXLites newcomer of the year Norwegian Thomas Bryntesson is also taking part in the RX On Ice series going back to a Supercar Lites after doing the World RX final in a Supercar in Argentina. Also from the World RX former RallyX On Ice event winner Reinis Nitiss from Latvia is back to win, Renis is driving for the SRT-team which he drove for earlier in 2015 when he took part in the Swedish RallyX-lites championship.

Completing the line-up in Piteå is RallyX-nordic regulars such as Joachim Hvaal, William Nilsson, Thomas Holmen, Simon Olofsson and Niclas Grönholm making up the field of the fifteen cars for Piteå.

The RallyX On Ice calendar is now officially finished with a few changes being made ahead of 2016, its the event in Trysil which is moved to the 4th of March making the round in Åre move back one week with a new date of the 11th March. Also the location of the events in Sälen and Trysil now is set.

– The race in Sälen will take part just below the famous ski-hill ”Väggen” in Hundfjället and in Trysil the track is placed in the big parking-lot outside Trysil Turistcenter, the venue in Åre is still being looked at by the series organiser. Says Jonas Lundin ahead of the 2016 RallyX On Ice.
